ICTP and Africa

Advancing scientific expertise in the developing world

ICTP in Ghana

ICTP has a long tradition of scientific capacity building in Africa. Over the last few decades, ICTP has supported numerous activities throughout the continent, including training programs, networks, and the establishment of affiliate centres. The Centre's Trieste campus has welcomed more than 10,000 African visitors since 1970, providing advanced research and training opportunities unavailable to scientists in their home countries.

ICTP's success in Africa has recently been acknowledged by the Italian government, which has awarded ICTP a special grant through UNESCO to fund a suite of programmes and activities there. For more details, click here.

We invite you to explore ICTP's ongoing and future activities in and for Africa. ICTP welcomes support and involvement in its efforts, the impacts of which have been documented here.
